death the uncomfortable truth

The late Steve Jobs once said:
“Death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent, it clears out the old to make way for the new.”
Steve Jobs should have programmed these words, this uncomfortable truth, to pop up on your iPhone every time you unlock it. “Hey, just a reminder that you will die someday. Enjoy your fucking day.” What a way to start the morning.

I’m joking of course when I say this should pop up every time you unlock your lock screen to text your mom or hop on Facebook. Although it is the truth, Apple’s stock price would take a shit instantly which would make many people very very upset. Upset not only because of the stock taking a shit but also because we as people know subconsciously that all our thoughts and motivations derive from the innate urge to avoid the inherent meaninglessness of human existence.

You Vs. The Universe

Yes, sorry to break it to you, but we as a species, compared to the vast and ever-expanding Universe, are insignificant. The Universe does not care about your brother scraping his knee, the F you got on your Calculus II final, or even you snorting cocaine off of Kate Upton’s tits. The Universe does not give a fuck, but you do.

You care.

You care about what you do in life and convince yourself to such a degree that you believe that everything that you do has some cosmic meaning behind it.

Sigmund Fraud says that all human action stems from two primal instincts. These instincts are to procreate and to feel important. Unfortunately, we convince ourselves that we are so magnificent that we become blinded by our own light of existence. We become blind to death. However, death is the ultimate equalizer that will one day come for each and every one of us, no matter how much money you spend at Whole Foods or how much time you spend on the stationary bike eating celery.

No one wants to die. Depending on your religious practices, even people who want to go to heaven do not want to die to get there. However, knowing that we are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap that you have something to lose. We have nothing to lose. Compared to the Universe, we are insignificant. In reality, nothing really matters.

The mind fabricates a perceived reality to make it worth waking up in the morning. The mind does this for you to protect you from the reality that nothing matters. If your mind did not protect you from this uncomfortable truth then what is the point of living. You would become hopeless. Hopelessness is a bitch. Hopelessness fosters mental illnesses. Depression and anxiety begin to set in. Next thing you know, you are in a dark corner crying for it all to end.

However, because of your mind, you are gifted the concept of hope. All meaning, everything we understand about ourselves and this big green and blue marble we live on, is constructed to maintain the purpose of hope. With hope, we can derive our sense of purpose to push us to create something that can beat the uncomfortable truth of death.

Death is the destination that we all share. No one has the ability to escape it and that is what makes life so beautiful. Death may be the single best invention of life because it gives us an opportunity to create something that will surpass even our own mortality. Since we subconsciously fear our own demise, we are gifted the ability to transfer our life into a project that will not degrade at the same rate as our flesh and bone. For me, this project is this website. This website represents who I am. It represents my thoughts and ideas that will hopefully guide people through life even when I am dead and gone.

The Ratio Of Life

Did you know that you being born is 1:400,000,000,000,000? You being born you is a fucking anomaly.

Right now, you were gifted life, but my question to you is what are you going to do with what you have, knowing that someday you will die?

Are you going to be the sorry soul that is buried with his or her dreams and aspirations? Do you know where the wealthiest place in the world is? It is not China, Dubai, or even the good ole United States of America. In my opinion, the wealthiest place on Earth is the graveyard. Within these graveyards are inventions never invented, businesses never erected, songs never sung and ideas that never manifested into the world of reality because of the fear that the opinions of the world would alter the perception of our hope.

Do not be one of these sorry souls. You have the opportunity, right now, to manifest your greatest dreams. It takes one step. One step towards your dreams. Do not wait for them to tell you are ready. At this moment, you are ready. I am here to tell you are ready. Maintain your hope and purpose given to you by your mind. Manifest your project so that you may have the possibility to live well past the day you die. You have the possibility to influence the future even with the uncomfortable truth of death. Start today because you may die tomorrow.

But what do I know, I’m just a dude.
